About a year ago, Sarah Bush Lincoln and RenalCare Associates developed a vision to bring full-time nephrology services to the Mattoon-Charleston community – beginning with dialysis and telenephrologist provide care in the Health Center. It is exciting to see this vision fulfilled now as two RenalCare nephrologists begin their practice dedicated to people in the Mattoon area.
Drs. Chandra Kanth Chaturvedula and Sri Mahathi Priyanka Kalipatnapu are now caring for people in Sarah Bush Lincoln, with RenalCare offices located on the hospital campus (200 Professional Plaza) and in Effingham (Evergreen Clinic), as well as in the region’s dialysis facilities. I am so excited to have this dynamic, couple join the RenalCare team providing people ready access to expert, in-person nephrology care long into the future.
Dr. Chandra is a general nephrologist who has been practicing for the last three years in Mt. Vernon. After completing medical school in India, he underwent internal medicine training at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA and then completed a Nephrology fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He enjoys being dad to their 19-month-old son, Pranav, as well as stargazing with amateur telescopes and playing soccer and cricket.
Dr. Mahathi is a general and transplant nephrologist who just completed specialized training in transplantation at Washington University in St. Louis. After completing medical school in India, she underwent internal medicine training at Loyala MacNeal Hospital in Chicago and completed a Nephrology fellowship at the University of Chicago. She enjoys being mom to Pranav, as well as playing Indian Carnatic music on the violin, writing poetry, and playing table tennis (collegiate level champion).
Drs. Chandra and Mahathi will have office hours in Mattoon five days per week and several times per month in Effingham. They will provide daily inpatient care at Sarah Bush Lincoln. Other RenalCare Associates physicians will be providing care by telehealth when they are on vacation.
